Who We’re Looking For

Position Description: Reporting to the Lifestyle and Office Manager, this position is located at a 55+ age, restricted, high-rise in Laguna Woods Village. Under general supervision, assisting in coordinating events for the Towers’ residents; resident functions, including movies, lectures, parties, traditional holiday events, birthday parties, yearly events and more. Decorates appropriately for all major holidays; tasks include promotion and implementation; performs related work as required. Work involves regular contact with other departments, divisions, supervisors, and residents.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Part time – day, afternoon, and evening hours.
Weekends and some holidays required, must be flexible with schedule at times.
Plans, implements, and attends afternoon and evening events
Decorates all parties and holidays as appropriate
Works together with the Activities department to create a fun and exciting lifestyle for the community residents
Maintains and communicates the schedule of information regarding events
Assists and arranges for events and holiday preparations.
Chaperone and assist residents on monthly outings, plays, beach walks, restaurants, etc.
Create and copy flyers for upcoming activities and events
Deliver weekly memos, birthday cards and other information to resident doors
Other duties may include room set ups
Create birthday cards each month
May be required to help maintain and monitor budget tracker for the department
Works effectively with co-workers, customers, and others by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner
May attend Activities and Welcoming committee meetings
Listens to and objectively considers ideas and suggestions from others
Keeps commitments; keeps others informed of work progress, timetables, and issues
Addresses problems and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical business solutions - Addresses others by name, title, or other respectful identifier, and respects the diversity of our work force in actions, words, and deeds.
All duties performed on site for the Community and all tasks assigned otherwise.
Required Qualifications:
Experience working with the senior population
Experience planning and staffing events
Working Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook
Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the job
Knowledge of modern office equipment, computer practices, systems and procedures
Knowledge of business English, spelling, and vocabulary
Knowledge of methods, practices and terminology used in statistical clerical work
Knowledge of division and department rules, procedures, and functions
Ability to operate standard office machines and equipment
Ability to read, understand, interpret, and explain rules and regulations
Ability to relate to the needs and concerns of senior citizens
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public, and to deal with public relations problems courteously and tactfully.
