Overview

Northwood Technical College is seeking applications from qualified candidates for a full-time Project Manager at any of our four campus locations. (Ashland, New Richmond, Rice Lake or Superior)

The Project Manager plays a critical role in planning, executing, and overseeing key projects within the division and across the college. This position ensures that projects align with institutional goals, meet deadlines, and adhere to budgetary and resource constraints. The Project Manager collaborates with internal teams and external partners to drive project success while maintaining high-quality standards.

Key responsibilities include developing and managing project plans, tracking progress, mitigating risks, and ensuring effective communication among stakeholders. Additionally, the Project Manager supports process improvement efforts, leveraging continuous improvement methodologies to enhance workflows and efficiency.

Plan, implement, and manage divisional and collegewide projects using project management methods, tools, software, and effective communication.

Manage timelines and deliverables for key projects such as the collegewide strategic plan, operational plans, and academic program reviews.

Collaborate with internal functional areas/departments and external partners to advance project goals and timelines and maintain service standards

Create project plans, ensuring progress aligns with objectives

Identify risks and propose solutions to mitigate project challenges

Facilitate implementation plans for collegewide projects in collaboration with designated managers or teams.

Estimate project costs, resources, and timeframes, negotiating resources and assigning tasks to meet targets.

Follow change control processes if adjustments are needed to project targets

Monitor implementation plan adherence through regular check-ins, documenting progress.

Monitor project performance, milestones, and deliverables, providing regular updates on project progress to the college leadership and other stakeholders.

Maintain clear and consistent communication with stakeholders, including college leadership, faculty, staff, and vendors, to ensure alignment on project goals, timelines, and expectations

Anticipates and meets the needs of both internal and external customers including students, staff and faculty.

Prepare and distribute regular status reports on project progress to stakeholders.

Ensure all project-related documentation, including confidential materials, is securely maintained and organized.

Produce high-quality documents and reports that reflect the College's professional image.

Document, evaluate, and enhance processes, procedures, and workflows as part of continuous improvement efforts collegewide using methodologies including LEAN methodology, PDCA, business process management, 5 whys analysis, etc..

Other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Degree and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in related field

3 years of experience in related field or equivalent* *Equivalent educational/occupational experience may be Associate Degree plus 6-7 years of related occupational experience.

1 year supervisory/leadership experience Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally

Ability to contribute to a team environment while maintaining accountability and motivation in self and others

Experience in project management providing clear direction and establishing work priorities to achieve goals.

Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite and the ability to effectively apply technology to tasks and projects

Experience with change management and risk management

Demonstrated track record of organizational skills, attention to detail, and meeting deadlines

Experience in collaborative environments, encouraging cooperation and trust; fostering commitment and team spirit; working with others to achieve goals.

Experience in identifying and analyzing problems; weighing the relevance and accuracy of information; generating and evaluating alternative solutions; making recommendations

Ability to obtain driver's license and insurance coverage in accordance with College policy Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in Project Management

Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, Professional in Project Management (PPM) Certification, or equivalent certification in project management

Previous experience in higher education Salary

FY25 Salary - Grade L $32.63 / hour
