Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Dozer Operator to join our landfill operations team. The ideal candidate will operate bulldozers and other heavy equipment to spread, compact, and cover refuse in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role plays a key part in maintaining a safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant landfill site.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate dozers and other heavy equipment to spread and compact landfill refuse.
Grade and shape the landfill surface to promote proper drainage and compliance with permit conditions.
Place daily and intermediate cover material as required.
Inspect equipment daily and perform basic maintenance (e.g., checking fluid levels, cleaning, greasing).
Monitor work area for safety and environmental concerns (e.g., litter control, leachate seeps, gas odors).
Follow all safety procedures and wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
Communicate effectively with site supervisors and team members.
Assist with general site maintenance duties when needed.
Keep accurate logs and reports related to equipment usage and site conditions.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Minimum 1-2 years of heavy equipment operation experience (preferably in a landfill or construction setting).
Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus.
Ability to operate bulldozers (D6, D8, or equivalent), loaders, and other landfill equipment.
Knowledge of landfill operations and safety protocols is a plus.
Ability to work in outdoor conditions and adapt to changing weather/environmental conditions.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Must be able to sit, stand, and operate equipment for extended periods.
Willingness to work in dirty, noisy, and potentially hazardous conditions.Company Description
