Job Description

Responsibilities:

Receiving:

Unload incoming shipments from trucks and containers safely and efficiently.

Inspect received goods for damage, defects, or discrepancies against packing lists and purchase orders.

Verify quantities and product types.

Accurately record received inventory into the warehouse management system or logbooks.

Report any damages or discrepancies to the Warehouse Manager immediately.

Inventory Management & Storage:

Safely move goods to designated storage areas using appropriate equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks).

Organize and stack products securely and logically to maximize space utilization and ensure easy access.

Maintain accurate inventory records through regular cycle counts and participation in physical inventories.

Ensure the warehouse is kept clean, organized, and free of hazards.

Order Picking & Staging:

Accurately pick products from storage locations based on customer orders or delivery manifests.

Prepare orders for delivery or customer pick-up, ensuring items are correct, undamaged, and properly staged.

May involve wrapping, palletizing, or otherwise securing goods for transport.

Loading & Delivery Assistance:

Load outgoing delivery vehicles safely and efficiently, ensuring proper weight distribution and securement of goods.

Verify items being loaded match the delivery manifest.

May occasionally assist drivers with local deliveries, including unloading at customer sites (if applicable and properly licensed/insured).

Safety & Equipment Operation:

Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations.

Operate warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.) safely and responsibly (training/certification may be provided/required).

Perform routine checks on equipment and report any maintenance needs.

Maintain a safe working environment by identifying and reporting potential hazards.

General Duties:

Assist the Warehouse Manager with various tasks as needed.

Communicate effectively with team members, delivery drivers, and potentially customers.

Participate in team meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications:

Experience: Previous experience in a warehouse environment is preferred, especially handling bulky or fragile items like furniture, cabinetry, or flooring. Forklift operation experience is a plus.

Skills:

Ability to safely lift and move heavy objects (e.g., up to 50-75 lbs repeatedly) and handle bulky items.

Basic math and reading comprehension skills.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Good organizational skills.

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Reliable, punctual, and possesses a strong work ethic.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Commitment to safety protocols.

Licenses/Certifications:

Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record may be required, especially if delivery assistance is part of the role.

Forklift certification is highly desirable (or willingness to obtain certification).

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, lift, and twist for extended periods.

Ability to work in a warehouse environment which may involve varying temperatures, dust, and noise levels.

Must be physically capable of performing all essential job duties.Company Description
