Essential Job Functions:
The Bureau of the Comptroller and Global Financial Services Charleston (CGFS) Bureau of the Department of State (DoS) requires the contractor to provide Information Specialist services in the Global Systems Division, Financial Systems Operations (FSO) Division.
Global Systems Operations (GSO) provides financial systems services to the global Department of State (DoS) user community and services to personnel in Charleston, Bangkok, and Paris.
The Information Specialist III will coordinate, plan, and maintain network appliance storage systems and VMware virtual infrastructure environments that host financial applications. Responsibilities include maintaining Windows and Linux operating systems, providing technical services and advice, and identifying business improvement opportunities aligned with information management principles, cost savings, and open system architecture objectives.
The Information Specialist is responsible for the following tasks:
Install, configure, and maintain RHEL servers for optimal performance, security, and reliability.
Collaborate with SAP HANA administrators to integrate and optimize RHEL servers in the SAP HANA environment.
Assist in the deployment and configuration of SAP HANA systems on RHEL servers.
Monitor and troubleshoot SAP HANA system performance related to the RHEL operating system.
Apply patches, updates, and upgrades to the RHEL operating system.
Upgrade software and hardware on servers and network infrastructure.
Integrate and automate cycles and Windows activities through Control-M.
Manage, monitor, and implement security configurations for virtual environments and networks.
Maintain and troubleshoot intra-system telecommunications, adjusting configurations for optimal system performance.
Analyze, evaluate, and test software/hardware problems, and report findings to management.
Provide technical expertise in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.x.
Manage VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and virtual machines.
Perform provisioning, cloning, and migration tasks for virtual machines.
Optimize virtual machine performance and resource allocation.
Ensure effective disaster recovery planning and implementation within the VMware environment.
Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for task automation and environment management.
Skills:
Experience administering databases in a production environment
Experience with PowerShell
Experience with PeopleSoft Payroll application
Experience with virtual server environments
Experience in requirements gathering and fit-gap analysis
Experience with compensation and financial systems
Experience with “Control-M” batch scheduling software or similar software
Proficiency in PC workstation operations including O365 Office Suite, local and wide area network hardware infrastructure.
Extensive knowledge and experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.x, Active Directory administration, and network shares/permissions.
Experience with VMware environments, PowerShell scripting, and storage management (iSCSI and NFS).

Qualifications:
A four-year degree in information technology or a related field is preferred.
Ten years in computer systems design, requirements analysis, resource management, and systems implementation.
Five years configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting virtual server environments, blade servers, and network-based data storage environments.
Experience with active directory networks and extensive knowledge of Network Appliance storage systems.
Work Schedule:
The employee will work an 8-hour shift between the hours of 6:15 am to 6:00 pm with a non-compensated 45-minute lunch (See your Project Manager for work schedule and department policies). Additional hours may be required and must be authorized by your Project Manager and DoS Management. This is a hybrid position with 3 days teleworking and 2 days on-site.
