Position: Staff Engineer, EIT
Location: Austin, TX or San Antonio, TX
Mission/ Position Description Summary
The mission of a Staff Engineer for HVJ, a leading specialty engineering firm in Texas, is to support the project manager or other staff as directed to assure client satisfaction through preparation of detailed calculations, performing engineering analyses, and completing field assignments.
Responsibilities:
Performing field work to include marking borings and logging behind a drill rig.
Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
Coordinate field and/or lab assignments.
Engineering analyses for shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls, slope stability, and settlement.
Drafting geotechnical reports for Project Managers review.
Key Criteria/Requirements:
MSCE, BSCE or BSAE with one to four years of directly related experience.
Registered EIT or GIT.
AutoCAD skills
Excellent written and communication skills and strong math and science skills
GIS/Database knowledge a plus
Valid Texas Drivers License with no history of accidents or alcohol/drug related traffic offenses and valid right to work documents
Ability to tolerate year round outdoor work
Ability to trouble shoot and fix testing equipment a plus
Ability to work weekends and travel overnight within Texas (as needed)
