Description
Assist in setting up and configuring sound equipment, including microphones, speakers, mixing consoles, and playback devices. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of audio equipment to ensure optimal performance. Maintain an organized inventory of audio equipment and accessories.
Examples of Duties
Directly responsible to the Production Manager, and/or the Production Stage Manager.
Work the assigned events thru set-up, tech rehearsals, performance, and strike as scheduled.
Help maintain all sound equipment, both in use and in storage; assisting with the creation and maintenance or starting, active, and closing inventories.
Assist with the execution of all performance requirements including, but not limited to: operating the sound board, acting as stagehand, and setting or striking elements used in an event or show.
Work with the Designer, Production Manager, stage crew and/or the theater’s representative to meet the individual sound needs of the performances.
Help with the construction, installation and maintenance of scaffolding and flats for the Events Amphitheater set-up.
Maintain high safety levels at all times.
Act as support for the other Sound Engineer and facilitate all A2 responsibilities for the theater show.
Assist with the set up and maintenance of the intercom and paging systems, including the paging system in the Alma Courtyard, as well as the Clear Com headset system.
Check out and fully set up the assisted listening systems in both theaters.
Check on a daily basis that everything is in working order for the system.
Attend weekly staff meetings, and any other meetings required by the Production Managers and/or Operations Manager.
Maintain all park owned wireless mics, receivers, and equipment.
Assist with upkeep and maintenance of all cables, microphones, and other audio and tech equipment.
Work all events in Evans Amphitheater.
At the end of the season, you will be required to submit a written final report summarizing the Events of the season and suggestions for improvement. This report must include a full end-of-season inventory of all sound materials and supplies on hand and the estimated values of each.
Any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Production Managers and/or the General Manager.
Typical Qualifications
Audio equipment setup & maintenance: Mics (wireless and wired), monitors, intercoms, mixing consoles, etc.
RF (radio frequency) coordination: Especially for wireless mic systems.
Signal flow understanding: Being able to trace and troubleshoot audio paths.
Comms systems: Familiarity with Clear-Com, RTS, or similar intercom systems.
Cable management & soldering: Creating or repairing cables, connectors, etc.
Mic fitting & dressing: Especially for live theater, broadcast, or corporate events.
1–2 years of hands-on experience in live events, theater, broadcast, or AV support.
Understanding of basic troubleshooting and stage etiquette.
Experience as an A3 or production assistant can help move up to A2.
