JOB SUMMARY
The Internal Service Technician prepares new office equipment for sale, services used, and customer machines while working with coworkers to meet deadlines. This role involves mechanical, electronic or computer network troubleshooting along with other duties, as needed, in the warehouse, delivery of equipment and basic installation of equipment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Unpacks, assembles, configures and tests new equipment (all vendors all types) in accordance with standard processes and uniform settings
Dismantles used machines for recycling or collecting usable spare parts
Reconditions used machines for sale
Repairs customer machines that are in shop
Provides phone support to technicians for troubleshooting and parts inquiries
Greets and assists walk in customers with service issues
Provide estimates on service for customers as needed
Provides estimates on recondition costs or helps determine the feasibility of a recondition
Maintains organization and cleanliness in the shop and warehouse
Assists the warehouse, service and parts department as necessary, which could include:
Checks in merchandise, matches purchase orders and receives purchase orders in the computer system
Stages equipment to assist in loading of trucks
Processes all return orders
Conducts inventory and interrogates variances
Prepares items for shipping or mailing
Delivers equipment via delivery truck to customer site
Coordinates deliveries with sales team for optimal time management
Performs basic connections of new equipment on customer networks to enable printing and scanning functions
Provides operator training on equipment to the customer to understand basic functions and proper usage
Assists with field service work as needed based on workload demands
Performs other duties as directed by Service Management
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma with 1 or more years of experience in a similar field
Experience working in a team-oriented, customer-facing environment
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
College diploma in Electronics, Electromechanical, IT or related field or military training/experience
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Strong mechanical aptitude
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Detailed, outgoing and customer orientated
Demonstrate adaptability to a fast-paced, changing environment with ongoing training
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective customer interaction
Highly self-motivated and directed
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Must be effective at troubleshooting, resolving, and responding to infrastructure issues and problems, coordinating solutions with outside vendors, users, and information technology staff

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required stand, pull/push over 50 pounds, lift or carry up to 50 pounds, twist and turn and talk and/or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, sit, reach shoulder height and below shoulder height, pull/push 25 pounds or less, lift or carry over 50 pounds, bend/stoop/crouch and have repetitive movement (fine motor like typing, writing, keyboarding, filing). The employee is occasionally required to reach above shoulder height, climb, crawl and kneel.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
