Scheduling Coordinator, Patient Resource Center Valley Health Partners, Allentown, PA Coordinates all patient scheduling activities including appointments, procedures, and exams for multiple physician practice, outpatient departments, modalities, and facilities on behalf of Valley Health Partners Community Health Center (VHP). Facilitates communication between staff, referral sources and physician offices regarding concerns/issues related to scheduling. Education: * High School Diploma or GED required. * Associate's Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related field, preferred. Experience: * 6+ months healthcare or call center, plus 6+ months customer service. * One+ year of experience in a healthcare setting or Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), preferred. Special Skills: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Required * Ability to maintain strict level of confidentiality. * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple responsibilities. * Detail-oriented with the ability to enter information accurately into the electronic systems. * Demonstrates ability to handle stressful situations. * Knowledge of diagnostics tests and procedures. * Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Preferred * Training in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and scheduling systems such as EPIC, EDX, PHS, etc. * Bilingual in English/Spanish. Essential Functions: * Collects clinical information, obtains insurance, and verifies patient demographics to ensure appropriately scheduling of screening and diagnostic tests. * Schedules patients for procedures, preadmission testing, and for obtaining STATs. * Educates patients, families, and physician offices regarding department protocols, procedures, insurance, referrals and testing criteria. * Identifies areas of improvement and makes recommendations for improvement after reviewing protocols. * Trains and onboards new employees and assists with the development of training manuals. * Utilizes scheduling software and other supporting software applications to enhance productivity and efficiencies. * Serves as a resource for staff, physicians, and referring offices. * Strives to reduce errors, minimizes rework and defects using LEAN methodology.
