This role will be working out of our Rone Engineering division in Lenexa, KS.

This Opportunity:

RMA’s team is growing, and we have opportunities for Construction Materials Testing Technicians in Lenexa, KS to perform field inspections and observations for commercial, industrial, and transportation related construction projects. We are seeking construction professionals looking to branch their career into testing and inspection.

Your Impact

Perform testing on general building sites and facilities

Interpret project plans and specifications for compliance with projects requirements

Perform soil density testing using both nuclear gauge and sand cone in accordance with ASTM and project specifications on site at commercial construction projects

Perform sampling and testing of concrete in accordance with ASTM and project specifications

Prepare and submit written field reports summarizing daily activities/observations and density calculations and results

Observe proof rolls, undercut operations, perform footing inspections with dynamic cone penetrometer, and inspect rebar

Test and work in accordance with Company safety policies

Monitor work procedures for compliance with project specifications

Interact with client representative (supervisors, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project sites

Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of testing data

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience in the construction industry

Valid Driver’s License

Reliability – must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times

Ability to prepare reports and documentation

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Basic knowledge of Excel

Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required

Must pass physical, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy

Preferred Qualifications

0-5 year+ Construction Materials Testing experience either on commercial projects or on transportation construction projects

ACI Field Level I certification (concrete sampling and field testing)

ACI Certifications in: Concrete, Aggregate, Lab.

ICC certifications in: Reinforced Concrete, Structural Steel, Prestressed Concrete, Structural Masonry, Soils, Fireproofing.

CWI Certification

NDT Certs in: Ultrasonic Testing, Radiographic Testing, Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, Visual Testing,

Ability to evaluate soil subgrade prior to placement of fill and perform standard soil Proctor and moisture checks

Ability to read and understand site grading drawings

Other DOT certifications

Physical Demands

Physical examination required to obtain medical clearance to work

Ability to stoop, kneel and to routinely lift and carry 50 pounds

Clean driving record and capable of being insured for driving company vehicles

Able to work in variable outside conditions, including extreme heat or cold
