Description
As a Laboratory Intern, you will receive hands on experience in a laboratory setting by performing basic sample testing and standard lab testing preparations.
Qualifications:
Follow laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs) in the receipt and handling of sample
Preparation of samples, solutions and/or reagents, and bottle preparation.
Perform simple analyses or instrument utilization to provide data that will not be directly reported to a client.
Perform sample custodial duties including sample inventory upon receipt, sample storage, and sample disposal.
Assist chemists and other technicians as needed.
Participates in the management of hazardous waste
Perform all responsibilities in a safe and responsible manner
Maintains a safe and healthy work environment
Works and communicates with personnel of own and other departments to develop a team approach
Continually aware of and meets holding time/commitments required by external and internal clients
Perform other duties as needed or assigned, including, but not limited to, clerical duties to support the team Preferred Education and Experience:
Strong attention to detail, with ability to learn
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to work with chemical and solvents
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work effectively with high volumes
Able to take direction
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions Physical Demands:
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Standing, climbing stairs, Stooping, walking, bending, reaching, pulling and pushing
Clarity of vision at both over 20 feet and under 20 inches
Precision type work
