Position Overview
The IT Desktop Engineer specializes in designing and prototyping client devices user experience, usability, compatibility and security. This includes serving as technical escalation point for Desktop Administrators in client technologies. This position is responsible for developing the client technology roadmap with the IT Director.
Essential Job Functions
Innovation: interoperability, prototyping & integration of hardware and software
Create processes for efficient lifecycle management of hardware and software at the enterprise level
SME for all client devices and escalation point for the Desktop Administrators
Create Technical SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for the team
Create the enterprise client devices technology road map
Find root cause and elimination of common client device issues
Recommend methods to promote a proactive Desktop environment to increase efficiency in deployment, maintenance and termination of equipment and user accounts
Work with IT Security to integrate end client device strategy into Enterprise IT Security Architecture
Other Job Functions
Maintain confidentiality and security standards and policies for the organization.
Keep up to date with new developments in the IT industry
Attend staff meetings or other company sponsored or mandated meetings as required.
Ability to work off-hours
Travel up to 40% of the time in order to fulfill the responsibilities of this position required
Basic Qualifications
Associates Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent technical work experience or certifications; Bachelor’s strongly preferred
Excellent customer service and oral/written communication skills
Healthcare experience strongly
Microsoft certifications preferred
5+ years’ experience in technical support of end client devices including desktop, laptops, tablets, smartphones in enterprise environment of 1,000 plus client devices
2+ years’ experience with Enterprise-level Asset Inventory products and Closed-Loop Life Cycle management principles, including MDM (Mobile Device Management)
1+ years’ experience with leading and creating road map of enterprise client devices
1+ years’ experience with Microsoft GPOs (Group Policy Objects), scripting for desktop automations, client device management suites and tools
Experience in provisioning and supporting teleconferencing and VoIP end devices
Experience with writing technical documents (SOPs)
Knowledge of networking concepts and technologies such as Ethernet, TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP, Wireless
