JOB DESCRIPTION: Benedict College has a full-time, 9-month, tenure track appointment opening as Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Sport Management and Esports Administration available for the Fall 2025 in the Health & Sport Management Department.
BASIC FUNCTIONS: Teach courses in discipline as assigned by the dean or department chair; provide academic advising to students; maintain an active scholarly agenda of research and service; serve on departmental, school, and college committees; engage in assessment requirements; participate in community service and outreach programs; and work collaboratively with colleagues and other programs.
This faculty member will maintain 10 office hours per week for student access and inquiry.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY: * Teach 12 sch per semester (4/4 teaching load) at the undergraduate and graduate levels * Provide advising to assigned students at the undergraduate and graduate levels to include advisement of graduate theses, research, and culminating projects * Contribute to curriculum development, assessment of student learning outcomes, and co-curricular enhancements * Serve on committees on department, school, and college levels * Engage in scholarly research appropriate for rank * Develop and submit grant proposals * Participate in public service initiatives * Collaborate with colleagues on initiatives supportive of transformational student learning REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: * Strong track record of successful college teaching * Proficiency with the development and implementation of courses using Open Educational Resources and virtual teaching platforms.
* Demonstrated capacity to facilitate student learning and engagement * Commitment to excellence in college teaching, to an active scholarly agenda, and to working in a multicultural environment that fosters diversity * Demonstrated commitment to professional responsibilities, student development, and service MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum Qualifications * Earned PhD (or ABD) in Sport Management, or sport-related field * Familiarity with Esports curriculum and programs * Familiarity with COSMA and accreditation standards * Familiarity with academic advising to include supervising undergraduate (i.e., internships, research projects) and graduate (i.e., theses) experiences * Ability to use technology effectively in teaching and learning ability to demonstrate collegiality and a sound work ethic Preferred Qualifications * Earned PhD in Sport Management * Two (2) or more years of successful teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate level in higher education * Established research agenda and record of scholarly work in discipline * Academic advising of graduate (i.e., theses, practicums) experiences Application Instructions: For full consideration, application materials must be received no later than Friday, April 25, 2025.
