CAREER OPPORTUNITY - PROCUREMENT MANAGER
Our client, Rubis Eastern Caribbean SRL, a regional company specialising in the marketing of petroleum products, is seeking a proactive and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Procurement Manager. The position, based in Guyana, covers procurement activities for all departments in Rubis Eastern Caribbean with limited support to Jamaica, Bahamas, The Turks and Caicos Islands and the Cayman Islands, where necessary. Applicants should have status to reside and work in Guyana.
The Role
The Procurement Manager reports to the Chief Operating Officer and will be responsible for:
Overseeing the company’s purchasing activities, ensuring timely, reliable, quality and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services.
Negotiating terms and pricing with vendors and ensuring appropriate contracts are prepared.
Managing, creating and executing regional Contracts and any contracts for specific locations assigned to this position.
Identifying cost reduction initiatives which include opportunities for buying as a single entity. This involves monitoring of budgets and expense analysis.
Ensuring internal stakeholders’ compliance with procurement policy regarding the dollar value of Request for Proposals.
Identifying, evaluating and maintaining relationships between vendors and internal customers, ensuring consistency in quality and reliability.
Managing the tender process by reviewing and confirming the specifications for goods and services and identifying vendors capable of meeting the company's needs.
Chairing and coordinating the Bidding Committee meetings to review tenders submitted.
Creating and executing purchasing strategies to maximise value while minimising cost.
Keeping informed about industry developments, pricing fluctuations, and new suppliers to sustain a competitive edge.
Working with finance, operations, marketing and other departments to align procurement strategies with business needs.
The Candidate
The Procurement Manager should:
Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Certifications in Supply Management, Purchasing or Contract Law would be an asset.
Have a minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience in Procurement, Purchasing or Supply Chain Management.
Possess strong negotiation and contract management skills.
Be knowledgeable of procurement best practices and cost savings techniques.
Demonstrate expertise in analysis, budgeting, and strategic decision-making.
Exhibit outstanding communication skills and a talent for fostering strong relationships.
Demonstrate exceptional leadership and expertise in managing teams effectively.
