Job Overview:
We are seeking a HVAC Intern to assist in the manufacturing of commercial refrigeration equipment. This role involves working with compressors, evaporators, condensers, pumps, and pipe insulation to build units according to customer specifications. Interns will gain hands-on experience operating shop machinery, brazing metal components, and identifying and repairing defects. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and eager to develop their technical skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Build commercial refrigeration equipment according to customer specifications
Operate shop machinery and use basic hand tools
Braze metal components as required
Identify and repair defects in equipment
Read and interpret build documents and basic drawings
Maintain a clean and organized workspace
Collaborate with other departments and assist with additional tasks as needed
Minimum Education and Experience:
Education: High school diploma, GED, or current enrollment in a technical/trade school program related to HVAC, refrigeration, or electrical work
Experience: 1 - 3 months of related experience, training, or coursework in HVAC, refrigeration, or electrical systems
Other Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of commercial refrigeration equipment, including compressors, evaporators, condensers, pumps, and pipe insulation
Ability to accurately read a tape measure to 1/16th of an inch
Proficiency in adding and subtracting fractions
Strong communication skills; able to ask for and offer help when needed
Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and accuracy
Well-organized with the ability to complete work in a timely manner and meet deadlines
Problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze information and suggest improvements
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, contributing to a positive work environment
