Job Description

Position Summary: The Communications and Marketing Coordinator develops communications and marketing materials and programs consistent with the internal and external communication strategy. Creates eye-catching content for all types of media outlets and a passion for telling St. Mary’s story in exciting and engaging ways to parishioners of all ages and to the wider community. Of particular interest is the growth and enhanced use of social media to connect with teens and young adults as well as the effective promotion of the many ministries of St. Mary’s through effective brochures, announcements, newsletters and social media accounts. As a representative of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, the position requires a commitment to the vision and spirit of Christ and the church.

Job Responsibilities (as follows, but not limited to):

Establish and drive a multi-channel communications strategy.

Prepare and manage all communications material, including the Friday e-blast, News and Events, Good News Daily and Worship Guides for weekly services, as well as for funerals, weddings and other special services (print and on-line versions).

Assist in the creation of digital, video, audio and Social Media content.

Serve as the videographer for The Pour and other videos from the Rector.

Ensure all St. Mary’s materials, printed and electronic, maintain high quality and maintain a consistent and positive messaging and branding message.

Create specialty pieces as necessary, including pledge cards, booklets, banners, postcards, signs, flyers, invitations, etc.

Develop working relationships with media outlets, print shops and other local companies helpful for the distribution of St. Mary’s messaging and communications.

Create new content for website and update regularly with new materials and as provided by others (i.e., Vestry minutes, financials, ministry leaders, etc.).

Coordinate with the Parish Administrator and ministry leaders in producing the Annual Parish Report.

Oversee and update external signage on church campus.

Set up Church/user emails and distribution lists for newsletters.

Prepare and manage the communications budget in conjunction with the Parish Administrator.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the Rector and/or Parish Administrator.

Required Skills and Personal Traits:

Outstanding interpersonal skills and must possess a gracious, Christ-like demeanor in demanding situations.

Must have a professional attitude and display a servant’s heart.

Excellent communications, computer, organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage workload.

The ability to discern needs and take initiative to meet those needs.

Ability to protect the reputation and integrity of others through strict confidentiality. Wisdom to refrain from indiscriminately sharing information is critical.

Willingness to learn new skills, work as a team player and overall dependability and accessibility are very important.

Personal integrity must be above reproach.

Knowledge of HTML and CSS.

Knowledge of content management-based websites with Divi Visual Page Builder.

Knowledge of Open Broadcast Software (OBS) for video recording and live streaming.

Experience producing marketing materials and coordinating graphic design.

Experience with website hosting, management and monthly analytics.

Experience in Canva and other similar platforms.

Experience in social media tools (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram)

Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools (Primarily Outlook, Word and Excel).

Experience with Customer Relationship Management systems such as Realm.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in communications or marketing.

Four to five years in communications, marketing and/or comparable environment.

Position Classification: Full-time salaried, non-exempt

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm. Occasional weekend or evening hours may be required to support key church activities such as Easter, Holy Week, Christmas, Confirmation, the Annual Parish Dinner and Volunteer Celebration.
