Draftsperson - 3D CAD Designer

Job Description

Allen Organ Company seeks a Draftsperson – 3D CAD Designer to join our team. This position reports to the Vice President of Production. The Draftsperson – 3D CAD Designer is responsible for creating different drawings using CAD software along with creating programs and PC board layout designs for various departments in production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Use CAD software to create drawings from sketches and specifications.

Create detailed, three-dimensional digital models of products and components using specialized computer-aided design (CAD) software packages (Solid Edge, Fast Cad, Auto Cad) while also incorporating precise dimensions, tolerances, and material properties with strong understanding of modeling techniques, constraints, and assembly features.

· Create various sheet metal parts/enclosures.

Design and develop physical housings for electronic components, ensuring proper functionality, thermal management, and protection by utilizing 3D CAD and other software packages while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet specific project requirements.

· Create programs for various machinery.

Utilize software to create machine specific programs from 2-D and 3-D drawings. Create Programming for CNC woodworking machines and other sheet metal machinery such as punch presses milling machines, and lathes.

· Create PC board layout design.

Learn to use PC board design software to create the layout of printed circuit boards (PCBs) for electronic devices. Collaborate with engineers and manufacturers to define design specifications to ensure products meet industry standards. Create documentation, including assembly drawings and Gerber files.

· Stay current with CAD technology and design trends.

Qualifications:

Capability to identify design challenges, troubleshoot issues, and propose effective solutions..

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to ensure clear communication with engineers, designers, and clients to understand project needs and convey design intent effectively.

Ability to work both independently and as a team.

Requirements:

· HS Diploma or equivalent is required.

· Associate or Bachelor’s degree in CAD or equivalent is a plus.

· Minimum 4 years’ experience in Drafting.

· Proficiency in Outlook, Excel and Word.

· Technical background in mechanical engineering principles, including understanding of materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
