Job Summary:
The Lab Technician / Medical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the Nursing Group by performing laboratory tasks, assisting with medical procedures, and ensuring efficient patient care. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with experience in specimen collection, basic lab procedures, and clinical support duties.
Core Responsibilities:
Maintain compliance with all HIPAA, OSHA, and CLIA regulations.
Ensure proper documentation of patient interactions and lab procedures.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe lab and clinical environment.
Follow all protocols for infection control and patient safety.
Provide excellent patient service while maintaining confidentiality.
Job Duties:
Laboratory Responsibilities:
Collect, process, and label biological specimens (urine, blood, etc.) following proper chain-of-custody procedures.
Perform point-of-care testing (e.g., urine drug screens, rapid tests) and document results accurately.
Prepare and package lab samples for external processing, ensuring compliance with lab protocols.
Maintain, clean, and calibrate lab equipment regularly.
Track and manage lab inventory, ordering supplies as needed.
Medical Assistant Responsibilities:
Assist nurses and providers with patient care, including vital sign monitoring and basic medical procedures.
Document patient interactions and update electronic health records (EHR).
Prepare exam rooms and ensure a clean and organized work environment.
Administer basic first aid and assist in medical emergencies as directed by nursing staff.
Provide support in medication reconciliation and patient education as needed.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy certification preferred.
Previous experience in a clinical or laboratory setting is preferred.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict procedures.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing needs.
