Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to support and enhance an expansive enterprise-level network environment serving our Charlotte based client. This role focuses strictly on Layers 1, 2, and 3 networking and demands a self-starter who can operate independently within a highly skilled team of senior network and cybersecurity professionals. With a network environment of over 9,000 routers (primarily Cisco 4800 series), 99% of which are virtualized on VMware, you’ll be working at scale and with cutting-edge technology. Ideal candidates will bring a strong background in hardware replacement, network implementation, and hands-on experience with SD-WAN.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage, maintain, and optimize LAN, WAN, Internet, and Intranet infrastructures across the enterprise.
Lead and support hardware implementations and replacements across a highly virtualized environment.
Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and tune the infrastructure to ensure maximum uptime and security.
Develop and execute network specifications, documentation, policies, and procedures.
Coordinate with vendors for testing, evaluation, and installation of network enhancements and patches.
Ensure high availability, resilience, and performance for all networking components.
Contribute to strategic initiatives involving multi-site SD-WAN and virtual network deployments.
Manage multiple projects concurrently with minimal supervision.
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise-level network engineering.
Proven knowledge of OSI model, TCP/IP, and secure network design principles.
Experience with Cisco routers, particularly Cisco 4800 series, in a high-volume environment.
Strong familiarity with VMware virtualization.
Practical experience in SD-WAN architecture and implementation.
Excellent troubleshooting and network diagnostic skills.
Ability to manage complex projects independently and operate with limited team support.
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) (nice to have)
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) (nice to have)
