Role Summary:

As a Senior UX Designer, you’ll play a key role in shaping how these connections happen. You’ll own the UX and UI design for one of Hometown’s core products, ensuring an intuitive, high-quality experience across web and mobile platforms. Working closely with Product Management, Engineering, and other Designers, you’ll craft elegant solutions that enhance usability, drive engagement, and bring consistency across our expanding product suite.

This is a high-impact opportunity for a strategic thinker and hands-on designer who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys solving complex design challenges, and is passionate about creating user-centered experiences that make a real difference—especially in the moments that shape the next generation.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead end-to-end UX and UI design for one of Hometown’s core products, ensuring a best-in-class user experience across web and mobile platforms.

Translate business goals and user needs into wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs that drive engagement and usability.

Help define and establish a scalable design system, laying the foundation for a consistent user experience across the Hometown product suite.

Partner with Product Management to conduct user research and usability testing, synthesizing insights into actionable recommendations that enhance the user experience.

Create interactive prototypes for usability testing and stakeholder validation, iterating designs based on feedback.

Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management, Engineering, and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless product development and implementation.

Own and drive design reviews, gathering feedback from stakeholders and advocating for user-centric decision-making.

Mentor and guide junior designers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning within the design team.

Analyze competitor UX strategies and conduct audits to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation.

Design with accessibility in mind, ensuring our products are inclusive and usable by all individuals.

Be a great storyteller and communicator, able to translate complex design ideas into compelling narratives that align teams and drive engagement.

Have strong beliefs, loosely held—take a stand on design decisions while staying open to feedback and willing to iterate based on new insights.

Success Indicators:

User adoption and engagement: Measurable improvements in product usability and retention based on design enhancements.

Design system adoption: A scalable, well-documented design system that is effectively used by designers and engineers.

Efficiency in product development: Faster design-to-development workflows, reducing time to market for key features.

Stakeholder alignment: Positive feedback from cross-functional teams regarding collaboration and design impact.

User feedback and testing: High usability scores and positive feedback from customers in usability studies.

Preferred Education and Experience:

6+ years of UX design experience in SaaS, enterprise, or consumer-facing applications.

Bachelor’s degree or relevant training in Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, or a related field.

Expertise in UX industry tools, including Figma, Sketch, InVision, and Adobe Creative Suite.

Experience designing, scaling, or contributing to a design system, ensuring consistency across multiple products.

Strong background in UX research methodologies, including usability testing, surveys, and heuristic evaluations.

Proficiency in prototyping and high-fidelity design for usability testing and development handoff.

Experience in mobile-first and responsive design, spanning different operating systems and platforms.

Familiarity with agile/scrum environments, collaborating with multiple development teams and product owners.

A strong visual design sense, with clean command over interaction design, typography, and usability.

Experience mentoring designers and fostering a collaborative design culture.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Bonus: Familiarity with front-end development web programming languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to remain stationary for a long period of time, including working on a computer.
