Job Description

Position Title: Lead Data Engineer

Location: Baltimore, MD

Duration: 6 months contract with possible conversion to FTE

Work Arrangement: Remote

Pay Range: US $90.00 - $122.00 per hour

Who we are looking for / Requirements:

Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

7+ years in software development, leading large-scale, cross-functional initiatives

Strong in GraphQL (schema design, query optimization, performance tuning)

Expert in TypeScript (front-end and back-end)

Skilled in RDBMS (Aurora, Postgres) and in-memory stores (Redis, MemoryDB)

Experience with BPMN tools like Camunda (workflow design & management)

Familiar with Node.js, React, and related frameworks

Proficient in CI/CD (Jenkins) and GitHub

Plus: Domain-driven design, enterprise customer domains, leadership/mentorship

Performance Objectives / What you'll be doing

Collaborate with architects, PMs, and designers to define scope and deliver high-quality solutions

Lead backend development using TypeScript with a focus on clean, maintainable code

Design and maintain performant GraphQL APIs and data solutions with Aurora, Postgres, Redis, and MemoryDB

Drive multi-product strategy across teams, ensuring integration and consistent UX

Contribute to automated testing to ensure high-quality software

Leverage AWS, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform for cloud-native development and IaC

Implement CI/CD pipelines and automation to boost productivity and code quality

Provide technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers and promoting best practices

Conduct code reviews and resolve complex issues to ensure system reliability

Oversee project delivery, aligning with cross-functional teams on timelines and quality

Stay current with industry trends and continuously improve development practices
