SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
The Plant Engineer is responsible for developing, designing, building, testing and inspecting mechanical devices and systems. This position is a responsible role that is accountable to uphold the quality, compliance and standards of the organization.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Continuous improvement projects for department.
Direct support to department activities.
Update CAD models.
Assist in capital projects.
Validate actual results vs. mathematical results.
Plan, conceptualize and create mechanical designs for new products.
Perform engineering calculations to support design work.
Create and review technical drawings, plans and specifications using computer software.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and work with vendors and contractors.
Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process.
Ensure project timeline is met and project stays within budget.
Analyze and evaluate manufacturing methods, processes and standards, provide solution to problems that adversely affect operator safety, qualify, productivity and cost.
Provide Engineering support in Operations to trouble shoot and resolve technical problems.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Excellent computer skills; and, record keeping skills.
Working knowledge of foundry ideal but not required.
Work knowledge of manufacturing ideal but not required.
Working knowledge of CAD.
Ability to work with hands; mechanically inclined.
Ability to work on a team and cooperate with others; positive attitude.
Ability to work without supervision; self-motivation and self-direction.
Ability to read and understand work instructions, blue prints and drawings.
Ability to lead projects to create a collaborative working environment pushing projects to on-time completion; and, ability to provide leadership in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Ability to make decisions, results driven and strong follow through skills.
Ability to pay close attention to details; good analytical problem solving ability.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
AS in Engineering or related field or 5 years equivalent experience.
Working knowledge and understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access; Mini Tab; Auto CAD and Solidworks.
