Position: Designer Associate (AutoCAD)

Description:
Perform daily work activities with direct to moderate supervision. Work activities to be performed include, but are not limited to: computer-aided drafting to develop power equipment parts, assemblies and designs in Inventor and AutoCAD.
The position includes associated clerical work to properly manage and document the work activities performed, as per Client's requirements for the position.
Essential Job Functions & Tasks:
1. Update 3D Inventor part orientations for 500 power equipment components in 3D Inventor.
2. Find and update all similar Inventor Parts in the same category to ensure alignment of practices and consistency.
3. Ability to check work by swapping Parts into Inventor Assemblies to confirm adherence and compliance.
4. Obtain information required to perform work from verbal communication, sketches, marked drawings, listings, field notes, vendors' catalogs, and technical reference manuals.
5. Read vendors' prints, shop, and other drawings and equipment operating instructions, and incorporate that information into the work being performed.
6. Proficiency in the use of 3D computer-aided design software, including: Autodesk Inventor & Vault. Experience with Spatial Business Systems (SBS) Substation Design Software (SDS), SBS P4I, SBS Utility DataHub, and AutoCAD are preferred.
7. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software.
8. Actively seeks out information to increase technical knowledge in area of responsibility
9. Applies technical knowledge in resolving basic problems encountered in assigned work
10. Coordinate information and design across a multi-disciplinary team to ensure deliverables are compliant with project expectations
11. Collaborate with various departments during the course of the project
12. Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned as standalone or in support of Teammates.
Education Requirements:
Associate degree in applied science (AAS) drafting and computer aided design (CAD) or in civil, electrical or mechanical engineering technology, or relevant equivalent experience and/or education.
Work Experience:
Equivalent experience without AAS degree - high school graduate and 4 years of experience in electric utility and/or related industrial drafting and/or computer aided drafting work.
