Position: DevOps Engineer
Work Location: Reston, VA (Hybrid)
Duration: 06+ Months (Contract to Hire)
Job Description:
We’re looking for a DevOps engineer who can be responsible for deploying product updates, identifying production issues, and implementing integrations that meet our customers’ needs. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in software engineering and be familiar with Java, Python, Angular, AWS (Amazon Native Services) and CI/CD tools and will work with developers and engineers to ensure that software development follows established processes and works as intended.
Objectives of this role:
• Building and implementing new development tools and infrastructure on AWS and On-Prem
• Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes
• Testing and examining code written by others and analyzing results
• Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats
• Identifying technical problems and developing software updates and fixes
• Working with software developers and software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended
• Planning projects and being involved in project management decisions
Responsibilities:
• Develop and setup CI/CD pipelines to automate build and deployment of applications across all environments
• Deploy updates and fixes, and provide Level 2 technical support
• Build tools to reduce occurrence of errors and improve customer experience
• Perform root cause analysis of production errors and resolve technical issues
• Develop scripts to automate visualization
• Design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance
Required skills and Qualifications:
• Experience as a DevOps engineer or in a similar software engineering role
• Proficiency with Git and GitHub workflows
• Good knowledge of Java, Python, Maven or any other build tool
• Working knowledge of databases specifically Oracle and SQL
• Experience with Linux/Unix Operating systems including scripting languages (Shell, Perl, Python)
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, using CloudFormation, Terraform or similar tools
• Experience with design and automating cloud-native CI/CD workflows and tools, using Jenkin, Gitlab or similar tools
• Problem-solving attitude

Preferred skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor of science degree (or equivalent) in computer science, engineering, or relevant field
• Experience in developing/engineering applications for a large company
