Senior Scientist (Durham, NC, USA) – Join a Growing Biotech Company!

The Senior Scientist is part of the Product Development team at LaCAR US, Inc., responsible for assay development projects to add new assays to the growing portfolio of test solutions offered in the Newborn Screening business. The Scientist will lead and perform studies focused on the development and optimization of new enzymatic assays, clinical chemistry assays and immunoassays. The Scientist will directly report to the Senior Director, Newborn Screening.

Your Key Responsibilities:

· Lead development of new enzymatic assays, clinical chemistry assays (enzyme, substrate and general chemistry) and immunoassays on the digital microfluidic platform.

· Optimize assay design and reagent formulations using DOE tools to achieve desired levels of performance and stability.

· Characterize assay performance across various analytical performance metrics including precision, specificity and sensitivity.

· Derive solutions for technical challenges imposed by system constraints.

· Establish product specifications and critical characteristics.

· Interface with internal Operations team for design transfer activities.

· Analyze experimental results and provide written protocols, reports and oral presentations.

Your Qualifications

· BS in life sciences or related fields with 5+ years of industry experience, Masters with 3+ years, or PhD with 2+ years

· Strong understanding of biochemical concepts and experience with DOE, RCA and FMEA tools.

· Experience using MATLAB, R, Python or other statistical tools is preferred.

· Familiarity with CLSI guidelines, cGMP, FDA requirements preferred.

· Ability to work independently and in a biosafety level 2 lab environment.

Working Conditions

FLSA Status: Full Time, Exempt.

Onsite in Durham, NC, USA.

BSL 2 Laboratory, Office.

Long periods of sitting and/or standing.
