We are seeking a versatile Legal Assistant / Paralegal with strong litigation experience, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage both legal secretary and paralegal duties. This role requires someone who is detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and experienced in federal electronic court filing systems, including MEC.
Key Responsibilities:
Paralegal Duties:
Bill time for paralegal work and manage time entries accurately
Conduct document review and summarization for litigation matters
Draft simple legal documents, including correspondence, discovery responses, and routine pleadings
Assist with case preparation, including timelines, exhibits, and supporting materials
Perform light legal research as needed
Legal Secretary Duties:
Type, proofread, and format legal documents accurately
Manage attorney calendars, schedule appointments, and coordinate court dates
Handle all electronic filing (state and federal courts, including MEC and PACER)
Organize and maintain electronic case files and document management systems
Communicate with clients, court staff, and other law firms professionally and promptly
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal in a litigation practice
Proficiency in federal and state court electronic filing systems (MEC, PACER)
Ability to bill hours for paralegal-level work
Strong attention to detail, time management, and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal practice management software
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple deadlines
Preferred:
Background in construction litigation
Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience
