Location: Hybrid (Remote the right experience)

Compensation: $100K – $140K base + Profit Share Bonus Potential

Start Date: ASAP

About the Company

This rapidly growing EPC and electronics manufacturing firm is scaling fast in the solar energy space. With a background in custom electronics and a strong foothold in commercial & industrial (C&I) solar projects, they’re expanding their in-house engineering team to meet rising demand. Backed by a lean but mighty business development and construction crew (including a Master Electrician and mobile install teams), they’re working on projects ranging from 100 kW to 1 MW—with eyes on utility-scale and international microgrid solutions.

Their aim? Build something extraordinary, push into new markets, and one day become employee-owned.

About the Role

As a Solar C&I Design Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of high-impact solar EPC projects. You’ll design, optimize, and support the execution of commercial solar systems across rooftops, carports, and small utility installations. Working closely with the Director of Construction, sales engineers, and project developers, you’ll help bridge the gap between technical design and field execution.

This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated, detail-oriented engineer ready to grow with a team that values innovation, ownership, and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Lead design and engineering of commercial solar PV systems (100 kW – 1 MW+)

Develop layout and single-line diagrams using AutoCAD

Perform system modeling and generation forecasts using Helioscope and/or PVSyst

Conduct NEC-compliant designs, equipment selections, and code reviews

Collaborate with internal teams to support proposal development and client deliverables

Support construction teams with technical documentation and permitting

Assist in refining internal processes for design standardization and automation

Occasionally travel to site locations (once/month on average)

Must-Have Qualifications

Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel

Solid understanding of NEC Code and solar industry best practices

Experience in C&I solar design—PV system layouts, string sizing, BOS, etc.

Knowledge of Helioscope or PVSyst preferred

Strong communication skills and collaborative spirit

Nice-to-Haves

Previous experience with EPC workflows or Owners Rep roles

Familiarity with battery storage and/or microgrids

Entrepreneurial drive or interest in start-up/employee-owned environments
