ENGINEERING MANAGER - POWER ELECTRONICS

Location: Kansas City, KS area

Compensation to: $175K

Power Technology Associates, Inc. has been retained to staff an Engineering Manager for a developer of power electronic products. The position requires an experienced leader responsible for managing, planning, and improving operations across a variety of power electronics development projects for aerospace, military and automotive applications. Projects will include the development of low-voltage and high-voltage power supplies, power converters, sensors, and passive components. This role handles major, complex assignments with long-term business impact, leads a design team, and plays a key role in shaping business success.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team.

Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.

Drive the adoption of new technologies and methodologies.

Plan, execute, and oversee engineering projects — ensuring on-time, on-budget, and in-scope delivery.

Provide technical guidance and ensure adherence to industry best practices and standards.

Design, implement, and refine product development, testing, and manufacturing processes.

Manage engineering staff and assign tasks based on project needs.

Lead teams in the development of new products, solutions, and processes.

Oversee project budgets and apply cost management strategies.

Monitor expenses and ensure cost-effective operations.

Continuously strive to improve process efficiency, product sustainability, and waste reduction.

Communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders, including investors and customers.

Maintain expertise in relevant engineering fields.

Ensure processes meet quality and safety compliance standards.

Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, sales, and marketing teams.

Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and customers.

Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success and guide decisions.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or another core engineering discipline.

Proven experience managing engineers, ideally in the aerospace and/or defense sector.

Strong ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, especially in aerospace product development.

Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills; effective communicator at all levels.

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask effectively.

Strong written and verbal communication skills; professional representation of the company to both internal and external stakeholders.

U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status required (due to ITAR regulations).
