Department: Construction

Reports To: Director of Business Operations

Employment Status: Exempt

Primary Location: Lebanon OH OR Columbus OH

Job Summary:

The Business Manager is a key financial leader responsible for ensuring the financial, accounting, and business operations run smoothly. This individual role requires a strong accounting background to oversee critical Billing and Accounts Receivable functions.

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning & Analysis: Partner with leadership to align business strategies, drive financial visibility, and ensure contractual and client requirements are met.

Financial Management & Governance: Oversee budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reporting for projects. Monitor performance, optimize costs, maximize profitability, and ensure policy adherence.

Project Accounting (Billing & AR Focus):

Ensure accurate and timely customer invoicing and payment applications, aligned with contracts.

Manage Accounts Receivable, ensuring timely payment receipt and initiating collections for overdue accounts.

Oversee accurate and timely expense accounting, billing, coding, and payment.

Ensure correct and timely revenue recognition.

Manage WIP, validate calculations, and focus on minimizing balances and improving cash conversion.

Ensure compliance with all financial and accounting procedures and policies.

Procurement Support: Facilitate communication and acquisition of procurement needs, ensuring accurate coding, valuation, acceptance, and payment of commitments.

Business & Risk Management: Identify and mitigate project risks. Ensure efficient program business and office operations. Facilitate insurance claim submissions and proper contract management. Assist with risk calculation and dispute visibility.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration (or equivalent).

Strong Accounting acumen and proven experience in Billing, Accounts

Receivable, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

Experience in Fiber and/or Construction, Engineering, & project environments preferred

but not required.

Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic environment.

Ability to understand business requirements within contracts.

Proficient in Microsoft Suite, including intermediate to advanced Excel skills (pivots, VLOOKUPs).

Experience with ERP systems (e.g., D365, Site Tracker) preferred but not required.

Proficiency in Power BI is a plus.
