Akkodis is seeking an SCADA/MES Engineer for a Direct-Hire job with a client located in Columbus, OH (Onsite).

Pay Range: $100,000 to $120,000; The salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Job Description:

The focus area for the SCADA / MES Engineer is the development and implementation of methods to transform raw data into useful data systems in support of manufacturing and engineering information and automation strategy. Collaborating closely across engineering disciplines, obtain raw data from multiple sources, ensuring data reliability and quality, develop and test manufacturing data architectures that enable efficient data extraction for analysis, visualization, and predictive or prescriptive modeling.

Key Duties:

Work with stakeholders, including operations, plant engineering, R&D, and IT teams, to understand business challenges, work toward solutions, assist with data-related technical issues, and support their data infrastructure needs

Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.

Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability and efficiency.

Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS ‘big data’ technologies.

Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into asset performance management, operational efficiency, and other key business performance metrics.

Keep our data separated and secure across national boundaries through multiple data centers and AWS regions.

Identify and integrate hardware/sensors, software, and data acquisition tools to develop and manage IoT/Industry 4.0 applications for data analysis, preventive/predictive maintenance, quality and condition monitoring, and performance improvements.

Ensure data integrity for analysis and visualization solutions using software and programming languages such as SQL, LabVIEW, Ignition, and Microsoft Power BI.

Extract and analyze data from multiple platforms and sources to develop and implement analytics reports and visualization toolsets. (Dashboards, OEE, etc.)

Design and deploy manufacturing/operations equipment controls and data acquisition infrastructure in alignment with the company’s network infrastructure standards.

For the manufacturing process network, lead equipment network asset management, including the creation and maintenance of component inventory and documentation such as technical specifications information, network configuration, network mapping, processes, and change management.

Develop, implement, and interpret process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) into schematics and data acquisition plans.

Coordinates activities between R&D, Operations, and IT.

Function as the subject matter expert in data acquisition for engineering systems for the industrial manufacturing environment.

Coordinate outside contractors, as needed, to complete any assigned projects.

Provide training and instruction to employees on data acquisition tools and applications.

Provide timely support to troubleshoot data availability issues and implement solutions to prevent recurrence and improve data availability, integrity, and security.

Maintain excellent lines of communication with engineering, operations, R&D, IT, other departments, and our affiliates.

Support manufacturing operations around the world. Occasional travel to the US or international locations may be required.

Independently maintain technical knowledge and remain current on emerging technologies.

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in computer science engineering, electrical engineering, data analytics, statistics, IT, or another similar technical field.

At least 5 to 10 years of previous experience as a data engineer or in a similar role, experience in a manufacturing environment is desired.

Data engineering certification (e.g., IBM Certified Data Engineer) or a Graduate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or another quantitative field is a plus.

Technical expertise with data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques.

Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Java and Python)

Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience designing and working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL), as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.

Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures, and data sets.

Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.

Strong analytical skills related to working with unstructured datasets.

Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.

A successful history of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large, disconnected datasets.

Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable ‘big data’ data stores.

Strong project management and organizational skills.

Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

Experience using the following software/tools:

Object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, C++, Scala, etc.

Big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.

Data pipeline and workflow management tools: Azkaban, Luigi, Airflow, etc.

AWS cloud services: EC2, EMR, RDS, Redshift

Stream-processing systems: Storm, Spark-Streaming, etc.

Allen Bradley PLC ladder logic, OPC-UA, Ignition

Familiarity with ISA 88, ISA 95

Familiarity with SAP is a plus

Excellent written and verbal communication and human relations skills required.

Must be able to work independently.

Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
