What you’ll do:
Represent operating companies in regulatory proceedings before state utility commissions and in related appeals
Coordinate and implement regulatory and legislative strategies
Prepare and manage advocacy materials including testimony, comments, briefs, and data responses
Cross-examine witnesses, present testimony, and participate in hearing
Provide legal advice on public utility regulation to internal teams
Develop and maintain relationships with regulators, staff, and stakeholders
Manage and coordinate outside counsel involvement
Travel periodically across AEP system locations as needed
What you will need:
JD from an accredited law school and license to practice in Ohio
Minimum 5–7 years of legal experience, ideally with state utility commission representation for electric public utilities
Strong regulatory law background with expertise in electric utility ratemaking, legislative and docketed proceedings, and cross-jurisdictional regulatory issues
Excellent written and oral communication skills, and a proven ability to operate independently with sound legal judgment
Ability to travel approximately 10–15%, with additional travel during hearings or key meetings
