Lab Engineer – Microsoft Silicon Valley in Mountain View, CA

Microsoft, Managed Services

Managed Services projects are permanent roles with Biblioso providing healthcare and benefits while the vendor works on-site at the Microsoft campus.

Key Details

Position: Lab Engineer

Contract Type: Permanent (W2 only)

Location: On-site at Microsoft in Mountain View, CA

Schedule: Monday-Friday

Compensation: $84,000 to $93,600 annually, plus benefits

Training: Fully paid training in Redmond, Washington, may be required for the first couple of weeks.

This role is exclusively for direct hires on W2 and is not open to C2C or third-party arrangements.

Technical Skills:

Configuring the Debug and Production nodes according to their standards physically and logically on the platform.

Continuous validation and updating the nodes for its firmware (BIOS, BMC, NIC, PSU, FPGA, ARM SoC) to the recipe level as in the EV state we get frequent changes and fixes with new FW and images.

Python scripting to develop test automation/utility tools

Rack and stack of servers and kit to cabinets

Physical installation and/or removal of equipment within the Data Center or Intermediary Data Facilities.

Hardware debugging and troubleshooting using JTAG or similar debug tools

Results analysis of the tests ran on the production and debug configurations.

Report the Bugs identified related to the hardware

Troubleshooting hardware errors from Lab and fixing the issues.

Upgrading the ARM SoC images on the Debug nodes from Lab and Production nodes remotely through RM as and when new SoC image releases.

Identified major Bugs in EV1 and EV2 validation testing.

Development and testing automation script using python, PowerShell and shell scripting.

Data post-processing, analysis and report-out

Documenting steps and snapshots of benchmark

Responsibilities:

Provides detailed project implementation instructions for integration of development systems and/or test configurations into vetted lab environments.

Identifies all material, infrastructure, test equipment, fixtures, and consumable items required to support lab implementation needs for each project request.

Identifies and/or recommends vendors for material needs and submits procurement requests.

Manages lab service requests in support of project implementations, lab maintenance, and equipment calibration needs.

Manages lab capability and capacity planning within defined thresholds.

Provide post project implementation support that includes equipment verification and configuration testing in support of defined project requirements.

Provide guidance for required troubleshooting, maintenance and management of server racks, bench development set-ups, network connectivity, and infrastructure while coordinating user requirements to align with automation capabilities and recommended technical solutions.

Maintain a thorough understanding of all documented processes and procedures.

Drive continuous improvement efforts to meet and support needs inclusive of system operational goals, capacity optimization, and emerging capability needs.

Preferred:

Background with system level qualification, validation, I/O interconnect, PCIE high speed data switches.

Experience with lab test equipment setups for signal measurement using oscilloscopes and the capability to read and interpret schematic diagrams.

Good written and verbal communication & organization skills.

Ability to work well independently and on a team. A collaborative spirit and a growth mindset.

Motivated to continuously learn and improve existing solutions.
