The Opportunity

Are you an immunology researcher passionate about advancing cancer immunotherapy? Join the La Gruta Laboratory as a Research Fellow, where you'll play a key role in engineering T cell receptors to enhance tumour recognition. This fixed-term position is for the specific task or project of performing lab management duties and conducting experimentation for this cutting-edge research initiative.

In this role, you will:

Conduct independent and team-based research in T cell development and immunity

Perform molecular and cellular immunology experiments, including mouse models, viral infections, flow cytometry, in vitro assays, and genetic screening

Support grant applications, manuscript preparation, and interdisciplinary collaborations

Manage GMO mouse breeding, husbandry, and genotyping for experimental models

Oversee research data systems, including plasmid, antibody, and mouse databases

Handle regulatory submissions (animal ethics, OGTR compliance) and maintain laboratory safety protocols

Train and supervise students and research staff

We’re looking for candidates with:

A PhD in Immunology or a related field

Experience in cellular immunology, virology, or molecular biology techniques (e.g., mouse models, T cell culture, MHC tetramer reagents, recombinant DNA technologies, flow cytometry)

Strong data analysis and bioinformatics skills (Seurat experience is a plus)

Excellent organisational and project management skills

Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and scientific software for data analysis
