Responsible for preparing and serving meals in accordance with health and safety regulations while ensuring quality, taste, and presentation meet our standards. This role requires efficiency, teamwork, and a commitment to providing nutritious and appealing meals to employees and guests. This job is P/T 29 hours per week. (M-Th 8-2:30/ Friday 8-1:30)
Requirements
Prepare, cook, and serve meals according to established menus and dietary guidelines.
Prepare salad bar.
Follow standardized recipes and portion control guidelines.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
Operate and maintain kitchen equipment, including ovens, grills, and dishwashers.
Assist in cleaning and doing dishes after meals are served.
Monitor food inventory levels and assist in ordering and shelving supplies as needed.
Follow proper food storage procedures to prevent contamination and waste.
Adhere to workplace safety protocols, including proper handling of kitchen tools and equipment.
Assist in menu planning and suggest improvements based on employee feedback.
Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and managers to ensure timely meal service.
Assist with serving food and interacting with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
Perform custodial duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
Previous experience as a cook, preferably in a cafeteria, school, or institutional setting.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines. Food Handlers Permit. (ServSafe certification preferred).
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong attention to detail and a passion for preparing quality meals.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs., frequently lift and carry up to 25 lbs., and stand for extended periods.
