DO YOU MEET THESE QUALIFICATIONS?
Experience in property tax administration or a related field
General knowledge of the real estate market
Knowledge of Illinois assessment law or real estate practices
Certified Illinois Assessment Officer (CIAO) is a plus
Willingness to obtain Illinois Assessment Officer certification within 2 years of hire
Proficient in using a computer, including Word, Excel, and Adobe programs
Excellent mathematical and communication skills
Ability to frequently or constantly lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects up to 20 pounds
Ability to multitask and problem solve
WHAT WILL YOU DO AS A CHIEF DEPUTY OF ASSESSMENTS?
As Chief Deputy of Assessments, you keep the wheels turning smoothly behind the scenes. You manage workflows and keep the office organized, ensuring supplies are stocked and forms are up-to-date and accessible. You're the go-to expert when someone has a question about procedures, and you coordinate effortlessly with township assessors, state officials, and local taxpayers to make sure property assessments are accurate and fair. You play a key role in the annual property appeal process-maintaining files, scheduling and attending Board of Review hearings, and making sure communications are timely and professional. Whether it's entering data into Devnet, drafting notices, responding to emails, or leading your teammates, you bring a calm, focused energy that keeps everything running smoothly.
