Job Description

We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Controller to join our team. Based in Novato, California, 94949, United States, this role involves managing accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulations, and overseeing financial operations. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to financial reporting, process improvement, and strategic planning within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Prepare comprehensive monthly and periodic financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

• Oversee billing, collections, and accounts payable transactions, providing guidance and training to staff as needed.

• Develop and implement workflows for data integration between the ERP system and other internal systems.

• Establish and enforce internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and processes.

• Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and organizational goals.

• Identify opportunities for scaling financial infrastructure to accommodate organizational growth.

• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to financial operations.

• Lead system upgrades and manage the implementation of new accounting software.

• Create user-friendly dashboards and graphical representations of financial data for stakeholders.

• Monitor departmental budgets and assist with forecasting efforts.

• Implement cost accounting practices and track expenditures in a dynamic environment.

• Proven experience of 8+ years in accounting or financial management roles.

• BS degree in Accounting, Finance or similar focus. CPA is a plus

• Strong knowledge of core accounting functions, including accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR).

• Expertise in auditing processes and internal control procedures.

• Demonstrated ability to manage billing functions, collections (commercial), and weekly accounts payable.

• Experience in preparing and analyzing financial statements in compliance with US GAAP standards.

• Solid understanding of general ledger management, journal entries, and adjusting journal entries.

• Proficiency in QuickBooks Enterprise or similar accounting software.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Effective communication and leadership skills to manage teams and collaborate with stakeholders.
