Job Description
Summary/Objective
The program coordinator/instructor will be responsible for providing program oversite for all practical nursing programs at Great Plains Technology Center. The program coordinator/instructor will be responsible for overseeing the practical nursing programs at the Lawton and Frederick campuses and overseeing the approval and accreditation processes for each.
Essential functions
Oversee the administration, organization, and supervision of all PN programs
Preparation and administration of the annual budget for the PN programs
Fulfill all the duties of the program coordinator according to the standards of CareerTech, Oklahoma Board of Nursing and ACEN.
Fulfill all the duties of an instructor according to the standards of CareerTech, Oklahoma Board of Nursing and ACEN.
Ensure continuous quality review and improvement of all PN educational programs
Monitor and maintain the effectiveness of the PN programs
Establish and maintain clinical relationships with various clinical sites.
Secure clinical facilities suitable for student learning and assist in preparing written agreements or contracts to cover activities of the nursing students while practicing in the clinical area.
Coordinate PN staff meetings, attend school staff meetings, and other conferences which promote excellence in nursing
Coordinated curriculum development and implementation.
Coordinates preparation of schedules for both classroom and clinical areas
Supervise student in class and clinical activities.
Coordinate yearly revision of the PN handbook, to ensure compliance with local board of education, OBN and ACEN policies.
Counsel students on progress and achievement
Formalize with the clinical coordinator, an orientation/training program for all new preceptors and provide supervision of clinical and preceptors along with clinical coordinator
Ensure the effectiveness and quality of responsibilities delegated to other qualified individuals
Establish a PN program advisory committee at each campus and hold two meeting per year.
Maintain records, statistics, and documentation for PN program accreditation
Implementation of faculty development and performance review for PN clinical coordinator and PN faculty
Serve as an instructional substitute as needed for classroom instruction and in the clinical setting.
Notification to the Board of Nursing of changes in the program, its administration, and reports as directed.
Survey, compile data and disseminate information from the student satisfaction surveys.
Compile statistical data annually from CTIMS related to the employment of graduates.
Represent the PN program in promotion of public relations.

Administrative Skills: Highly organized with strong time management, prioritization, and project coordination skills. Proficient in data management, scheduling systems, and resource optimization. Capable of streamlining administrative processes to support academic and clinical operations.
Communication and Collaboration: Exceptional interpersonal and professional communication skills. Adept at building collaborative relationships across academic and clinical settings. Skilled in conflict resolution, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership to support a positive, student-centered learning environment.

Work Environment:
The PN program coordinator typically works in an office environment, the mission of the school may require work in other settings. Travel to the clinical site and to the Frederick campus is required as needed for proper oversight. A standard workweek is assigned by administration is required, evening or weekend hours may be required to accommodate activities.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this position, the coordinator is frequently required to move/position objects, move about the classroom building and/or across campus. Coordinator may need to be able to lift/move patients according to industry standards. The coordinator may respond to emergency situations, student altercations, and communicate with staff, patients, parents, and students. The coordinator is required to perform extensive work at a computer display terminal.
Travel required:
Occasional travel within and outside the Great Plains Technology Center district may be required for sponsorship of student activities, professional development, and participations in other Great Plains Technology Center activities.
Required Education and experience
Current unencumbered license as an RN in the state of Oklahoma or other compact state
Two (2) years of experience as full-time faculty in an accredited nursing program
Two (2) years of acute care experience as an RN
Master’s degree with nursing focus
Current CPR Card
