Mōkai, Taupō Large-scale drystock Leadership role with purpose With people, whenua, and sustainability at the heart of its kaupapa, Waipapa 9 Trust is an Ahu Whenua Trust responsible for over 7,000ha of land and farming activity, based in Mōkai, 23km northwest of Taupō Waipapa 9 Trust is seeking a capable, professional and values-driven Farm Manager to lead day-to-day operations at Waipapa Station, a large-scale, mixed-enterprise farming business.

Spanning 3,000 hectares, Waipapa Station is a complex and diverse operation encompassing dairy support, beef finishing, and sheep and beef breeding.

The station winters 600 dairy heifers, 350 bulls, 1,200 beef steers and heifers, 5,200 ewes and 700 breeding cows, and also winters 3,000 dairy cows on-farm with external support.

Winter cropping and silage are grown on farm to support the livestock system.

Waipapa Station has a strong people and commercial focus, the role offers the opportunity to combine farm management expertise with purpose-driven leadership, working as part of a wider team delivering intergenerational benefit.

The Farm Manager will lead a team of six and take responsibility for the day-to-day operations at Waipapa Station.

This includes oversight of animal health, feed planning, pasture and cropping management, infrastructure maintenance, and team development.

Working closely with the General Manager and key stakeholders, the Farm Manager will ensure on-farm performance aligns with both operational objectives and the broader strategic direction of the Trust.

The Farm Manager will lead with a clear sense of responsibility for the people, livestock, and whenua in their care ensuring the farm is run profitably, safely, and in alignment with a commitment to care, transparency, professionalism and integrity.

Environmental sustainability, health and safety compliance, and robust record keeping are also critical areas of focus.

The ideal candidate will: Be a confident and collaborative people leader with a track record of building positive, high-performing teams.

Have a production and precision mindset with proven experience in finishing stock and dairy support systems including; growing dairy heifers, wintering dairy cattle and rotational bull finishing.

Experienced in broader-scale sheep and beef systems, with a focus on seasonal priorities to lift reproduction and weaning weights.

Be technically strong in formal feed planning and pasture management seeking out practical and profitable stocking and grazing strategies.
