TITLE: Elementary Math Support Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS:
Professional Educator License
Deep and broad understanding of mathematical content and instructional best practices at the elementary level
Minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience
EL Certification preferred
Ability and availability to maintain a flexible work schedule to accommodate after school support JOB GOAL: The primary purpose of this position is to directly support student learning in math. To provide math interventions and supports in small group settings, individualized student instruction, organizing and assisting in screening and benchmark testing, progress monitoring of students, evaluating the effectiveness of student interventions, and adjusting teaching strategies according to student needs.
REPORTS TO: Principal/Assistant Principal
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Support effective pre-K-5 mathematics instruction and student learning.
2. Apply a deep understanding of math instructional practices to support students in classroom and small group settings.
3. Implement the district's current math instructional framework; work collaboratively with the math department, including math coordinator and coaches.
4. Implement the MTSS process with fidelity and demonstrate a full understanding of the expectations at the Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 levels.
5. Assist with screening and benchmark assessments; interpret pertinent student data to explain findings to a variety of audiences, including at student data and parent meetings.
6. Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with administrators, teachers, support staff, and parents to strengthen all aspects of the instructional program.
7. Demonstrate practices of growth mindset to support a positive culture and climate in the building.
8. Support school and district improvement efforts.
9. Attend math collaboration meetings to increase curriculum knowledge and instructional capacity.
10. Participate in professional development, research, reading and inquiry sessions to stay informed of developments in instructional best practices, technology integration, and assessment.
11. Perform other duties and assume responsibilities as may be assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning or designee and in accordance with terms stipulated in the current contract.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten-month year
SALARY: In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the South Berwyn Education Association:
