Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership
Design and optimize mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection
Perform comprehensive load calculations and equipment sizing
Develop hydronic system designs following industry best practices
Ensure all designs meet or exceed building codes and safety standards
Project Management
Lead cross-disciplinary coordination efforts
Monitor project scope, schedules, and deliverables
Guide technical documentation and specification development
Resolve design conflicts and optimize system integration
Design Innovation
Create detailed 3D models and technical drawings using advanced design software
Implement sustainable design practices and energy-efficient solutions
Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and process optimization
Contribute to engineering proposals and budget planning
Team Leadership
Facilitate team meetings and technical reviews
Mentor junior engineers and technical staff
Lead code compliance reviews and quality control efforts
Foster collaborative relationships across disciplines
Qualifications:
Education & Licensure
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an EAC/ABET-accredited program
Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain within specified timeframe
NCEES registration preferred
Experience
5+ years of mechanical engineering experience in building systems
Proven track record of diverse project delivery
Strong background in sustainable design practices
Technical Skills
Mastery of 3D modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
Experience with project management and collaboration tools
Knowledge of building codes and industry standards
Preferred Certifications
LEED AP BD+C
WELL AP
CSI-CDT certification (training available)
