Accounting Specialist

Position Summary

As an Accounting Specialist you will mainly cover general ledger, reporting, audit, BPO governance and Continuous Improvement activities.

Role and Responsibilities

Who are we?

Right across the Pipera metro station, the Samsung Shared Services Centre Europe, established in 2016 in Bucharest (Romania) covers Financial, Customer Service and HR processes for Samsung subsidiaries across Europe.

What is the role about?

Performing audit in order to review the accuracy of the accounting postings performed by an external provider (AP & AR processes);

Reviewing in SAP cash application performed by an external provider (AR process) and rejecting those entries which fail accuracy;

Performing regular reports and/or presentations with the purpose of monitoring the external provider for the AP & AR operations, identifying process issues, proposing corrective actions and ensuring these are implemented and followed;

Being in charge with the monthly accrual calculus; centralizing working files from different departments, checking accuracy and making corrections if needed, posting final figures; sending feedback to the related departments in an aim to increase accuracy for future Closings;

Performing accounting entries for re-classes, as required;

Managing after Closing reports specific to Samsung, in order to ensure the quality of the financial information and the compliance with the accounting rules and principles (Finance Self Control System, Disclosure of Controls and Procedures);

Act as back-up for Month End Closing by being ready to step in, when required, and prepare balance sheet, profit and loss statement and other financial reports;

Ensuring accuracy of financial documents in accordance with international standard and internal policies;

Maintaining the confidential aspect of the financial data;

Leading or participating to Continuous Improvement projects with the purpose of implementing Best Practices across European Samsung subsidiaries, ensuring compliance with the internal regulations set by Head Quarter, automatizing different processes, increasing efficiency etc.

Acting as an ambassador for promoting Samsung Shared Service to our European subsidiaries, ensuring services are delivered in line with the agreed levels of quality and productivity; being in charge with Change Management for different initiatives or projects, to secure subsidiaries’ buy in; keeping permanent contact with the subsidiary you will be in charge with, in order to prove being a reliable partner for them;

Taking advantage of SAP system and other internal software programs.

Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting;

Meaningful accounting experience is required (2-3 years GL processes);

Experience of SAP FI systems preferable;

Good Excel and database skills;

Good analytical and problem solving skills;

Detail-oriented with good knowledge over (IFRS) accounting procedures;

Ability to work independently and also a great team-mate;

Tact and diplomacy skills, acting as an Ambassador for promoting Samsung SSC services to our European subsidiaries;

Time management skills and good level of stress resistance, being able to meet deadlines and solve any bottlenecks along the way;

English written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout the organization;

Willing to work in rotation together with other colleagues, in order to cover UK schedule (10:00-19:00 RO).
