Position Description

Purpose

To perform a variety of routine administrative and technical work in accepting, coordinating and administering casualty claims under the supervision and guidance of the Insurance & Claims Manager. Responsibilities include investigations into the claims, evaluation, and subsequent settlement of claims within the guidelines set by the company. Maintains proper file composition to support payment of claims. This position works under supervision of the Insurance & Claims Manager.

Please Note: We will also consider candidates with experience at the Insurance & Claims Administrator level who demonstrate strong potential and interest in growing into this role.

Focus & Scope

Essential duties and responsibilities, i.e. those which are basic, necessary, and an integral part of the job, are indicated below.

Technical/Specialty Area

Correspond with or interview employees, witnesses or other involved parties to compile information

Approve payment of Claims within a certain monetary limit

All tasks are to be performed with the goal of demonstrating superior claims handling expertise

Under technical direction, works within significant limits and authority on assignments of higher technical complexity and coordination

Responsible for claims management of assigned cases within guidelines of performance standard.

Opens new claims, completes contact with appropriate employee, their supervisors, and appropriate Safety team to perform needed investigations to determine compensability as well as possible subrogation or apportionment according to state and/or Company guidelines.

Understand the reserving assigned by the third-party administrators (TPA)

Follows appropriate procedures for system documentation to preserve data integrity

Maintains regular contact with TPA, attorneys, appropriate employee’s management team to develop positive relationships and establish credibility.

Process invoices associated with the Risk Dept.

Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

Works productively and harmoniously with others on a consistence basis

Respond positively to direction and criticism of performance

Ensure accuracy of claim data with the appropriate Teichert database used for monthly and quarterly reporting

Education:

Bachelor's Degree or Four Years Equivalent Experience.Specific Job Requirements:

Successful completion of pre-employment drug, alcohol, and background investigation

Valid Driver’s License

Demonstrate ability to handle confidential material and information in an ethical and professional manner.

Ability to learn quickly and grasp new information

Basic technical Auto Liability and General Liability claims knowledge

Strong verbal and written communication skills with emphasis on telephone communication required

Strong math and reading skills required

Equipment Used:

Personal computer, telephone, personal protective equipment (i.e. safety glasses, hearing protection), office machinesPhysical Demands & Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment characteristics are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical: Sitting for long periods of time working at the computer or driving to job sites. Job site visits require walking on uneven ground, climbing, bending, stooping, and crawling in confined or enclosed spaces. Some lifting of materials and equipment up to 25 lbs. Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. May work long hours during peak seasons.

Work Environment: Exposed to the conditions of job sites which can include loud noise, dust, fumes, and extreme weather conditions prevalent at the time. May work various shifts or hours, including early mornings, dusk or evenings. Typical office environment with adequate temperatures and lighting, low levels of noise.BASE SALARY RANGE:

$82,500.00 - $115,500.00
