Job Summary

Performs journeyman level work in chemical, biological and bacteriological testing analysis of wastewater, in support of efficient operation of the wastewater treatment plant operations. Conducts environmental laboratory tests by using laboratory quality procedures stated In Standard Methods for the Examination of Wastewater Edition. For the Monitoring of the wastewater treatment plant process to maintain water quality compliance In Accordance with governing document, Overseas Environmental Baseline Guidance chapter 4 Wastewater

Roles and Responsibilities

• Monitors & maintains Laboratory Equipment, make minor repairs or adjustments as needed.

• Operates Laboratory Meters, Scales, Ovens, Furnace hood, Incubators, & other equipment Repairs, calibrates, and provides general maintenance on meters, tools and equipment in accordance with Manufacturers stated Recommendations.

• Calibrate, maintain and evaluate test meters & apparatuses for daily use. Performs analytical computations and completes documentation of results.

• Maintains excel spreadsheets for documentation of Daily Flow, test results of WWTP process, under general direction, performs advanced duties from instructions, established guidelines and procedures.

• Assists others in complex actions in agreement with established protocol to comply with established & new policy & Regulations.

• Works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function.

Basic Qualifications

• Possesses a complete awareness of a multitude of instruments and apparatuses utilized to sample, examine, assess, and observe the quality of the wastewater treatment process.

• Is aware of changes in policies and procedures & provides updated information about new improvements associated with scope of work.

• Has knowledge, experience & proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to duties needed for a Laboratory technician to run multiple tests, including BOD, Biochemical Oxygen Demand, TSS Total Suspended Solids, pH potential Hydrogen, SS30 Settleable Solids, MLSS Mixed Liquor suspended Solids, MLVSS Mixed Liquor Volatile Suspended solids. Chlorine Residual, Dissolved Oxygen, Bacteriological testing, Coliform, Oil & Grease, Chlorine, E. Coli, PH, fecal coliform, total coliform, turbidity

Preferred Qualifications

• Skills required for this job are typically acquired by a high school diploma, the completion of an associate or bachelor’s degree, a Degree in Chemistry and/or 3+ years of experience in the field in lieu of a degree.

• Will have a working knowledge of the statistics involved in the QC of laboratory analysis and a basic understanding of the methods that the laboratory employs.

• And be able to confirm that the following tests are completed correctly and within compliance and specifications of the Manufacturer, EPA and OEBGD
