The Communications Assistant at Wezesha Impact will play a key role in amplifying the organization's mission, programs, and impact through strategic communication efforts.

This individual will be responsible for creating and managing compelling content across various platforms, building and nurturing media relationships, and executing digital strategies to engage and inform diverse audiences.

Main responsibilities: Brand Visibility & Media Outreach Content Development & Impact Storytelling Digital Engagement & Social Media Strategy Internal & External Communications Coordination Event Management Support 1.

Brand Visibility & Media Outreach Enhance the Wezesha Impacts presence across social media platforms, ensuring regular, impactful, and consistent content.

Develop strategies to position the organization as a leader in the Youth.

Build and maintain relationships with journalists, media outlets, and influencers to enhance the organization's media presence.

Coordinate media events, interviews, and press conferences to raise awareness of key initiatives and campaigns.

Review and analyze traditional and online media daily, identify and summarize relevant mentions in alignment with Wezesha Impacts mission and disseminate to the relevant departments for consideration.

Ensure that all messaging is aligned with Wezesha Impact's mission and resonates with different target audiences.

Content Development & Impact Storytelling Write high-quality blogs for the website and social media platforms, highlighting organizational impact, youth success stories, and key initiatives.

Uphold quality of all social media publications and follow protocol to ensure a uniform "brand" (uniform fonts, logos, pictures). Manage and serve as the custodian of all multimedia content (photos, videos, graphics) for use across the organisation (reports, presentations, digital platforms). Proactively capture, document, and share impactful field stories that demonstrate Wezesha Impact's work and success.

Present these stories in innovative ways to inspire and engage both internal and external audiences.

Digital Engagement & Social Media Strategy Manage and grow the organization's social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin, etc.), ensuring consistent and engaging content.

Monitor online conversations, respond to inquiries and manage Wezesha Impact's online reputation.

Analyse social media analytics to track engagement and optimize content strategies.

Internal & External Communications support Support internal communication efforts by crafting messages that keep team members informed and aligned with Wezesha Impacts goals.

Collaborate with other departments to ensure that all communications are aligned with the broader strategy and vision of Wezesha Impact.

5.

Event Management Support Prepare event specific media monitoring reports, on request, that highlight journalist participation and press coverage.

Attend exhibitions and showcases - setup showcase/ exhibitions display and promote Wezesha Impact.

Qualification: Bachelor's degree in humanities with a bias in Mass Communication, Public Relations, Journalism and Marketing from a recognized and reputable university.

At least 1-2 years of relevant experience in communications, media relations, or a similar field, ideally within a not-for-profit organization or a sector related to social impact.

Proven track record in writing, editing, and producing content for digital platforms, print materials, or campaigns.

Hands-on experience managing social media accounts, creating content, and using social media analytics tools.

Communication & Writing Skills Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

Excellent storytelling and content creation skills.

2.

Digital & Social Media Expertise Proficiency in managing social media platforms (Facebook, X/Twitter, Linkedln, Instagram). Experience with content scheduling, analytics, and engagement strategies.

Basic knowledge of SEO and digital marketing best practices.

3.

Media & Public Relations Experience in media relationship-building with journalists.

Ability to write press releases, media briefs, and opinion pieces.

4.

Event Planning & Coordination Ability to coordinate visibility and branding at events.

Ability to coordinate exhibitions/workshops/campaigns.

5.

Design & Multimedia Skills (Preferred but not mandatory) Basic graphic design skills (Canva, Adobe Suite). Photography and videography skills for storytelling.

Ability to edit short-form videos for social media.

6.

Internal & External Communication Management Ability to draft newsletters, reports, and organizational updates.

Strong interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
