LOCATION: This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days per week at a secure controlled information facility in Sterling, Virginia.

CLEARANCE: This position requires that the candidate have an active US DOD TS or above security clearance.

We are looking for a Lead Systems Engineer Configuration Management Specialist on the Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) Engagement Controller and Manager (BECM) program to work alongside our balanced agile delivery teams on highly complex DoD projects, specifically the development of command and control (C2) software. Hypergiant with its partners is building an innovative cloud-based command and control system that seamlessly integrates existing capabilities and provides automation that improves efficiency and effectiveness of mission planning and execution. A perfect candidate is able to support configuration management (CM) activities as an integrated team with partner capability providers. They will work primarily on-site as part of a Mission Integration and Test team, applying standard configuration management practices and procedures and working with project teams to determine an appropriate build schedule. This position will ensure necessary software is stored in source control tools and will ensure builds are reproducible. The individual will work with Document Control in the storage and tracking of controlled products and with others to analyze, evaluate, design, develop, implement, maintain, and/or improve configuration management tools, processes, and procedures, as well as prepare documents for customer delivery.

Role & Responsibilities

Establish and maintain documented CM procedures.

Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the CM Plan.

Coordinate with Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leads to identify configuration items

Release new work products and changes to existing work products

Facilitate configuration control boards (CCBs) including, rosters, agendas, minutes, and action items

Work with the COTS/FOSS Manager to Identify, verify, and archive of the COTS Asset Baseline

Participate in the review of CM activities status with program and functional management

Flow down and monitor compliance of subcontractor CM activities

Helping ensure program personnel are trained in CM processes and tools

Generate and report CM metrics and maintain baselines of identified work products

Facilitate program completion activities to include resolution of CM-related issues

Contribute to the creation and maintenance of the Software Version Description (SVD) Document

Participate in Program Gate reviews, Proposals, Cost Estimation activities, Reviews, Appraisals, and Program Closure activities In collaboration with developers, designers, testers, project managers, product managers, and project sponsors

Required Experience

At least 10+ years of professional work as a systems engineer (6+ with a STEM degree).

Minimum of 4 years of experience in configuration management or software development

Experience working on classified DOD programs in a secure controlled information facility

Demonstrated experience with configuration management (CM) procedures and documentation

Experience working with DoD projects, particularly command and control (C2) software, on Windows and Linux operating systems

Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and facilitating configuration control boards (CCBs)

Demonstrated familiarity with cloud platforms and deployment strategies (cloud architect or operations certification is a plus)

Knowledge of COTS/FOSS management and asset baseline verification

Experience managing robust CM tools and implementing workflow automation, including generating and reporting CM metrics

Experience with system architecture development and creation / maintenance of related artifacts, including Software Version Description (SVD)

Experience with program gate reviews and appraisals

Ability to lead CM teams and train program personnel in CM processes and tools including but not limited to Git, DevOps, and CI/CD

Experience with program closure activities and issue resolution

Must be a US Citizen with an active US DOD TS or above Security Clearance

Must be able to work onsite, at a secure controlled information facility located in Sterling, VA

Preferred Experience

Experience with cloud-based command and control systems and geospatial information systems

Knowledge of agile software development methodologies

Knowledge of makefiles, Jenkins, and Gitlab runner builds

Ability to control and track engineering data per a program’s configuration management plan

Ability to assist and participate in configuration audits

Ability to debug build issues as they arise

Knowledge of scripting languages

Jira, Docker and Artifactory experience

Experience working in a sub / prime contractor relationship and monitoring compliance

Background in systems engineering for complex projects

Knowledge of automation systems that improve mission planning efficiency

Knowledge of the software system development lifecycle, including requirement gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment, using an agile, iterative process

Understanding of software application architecture patterns

Penchant for learning new technologies, balanced with strong pragmatic thinking

Design-minded attention to detail in system implementation

Ability to travel as needed

US Base Salary Range

$127,900—$174,800 USD
