Full Time Chef
SALARY $73,150 + SUPERANNUATION
SUMMARY
Bar Beirut is Canberra’s go-to-late-night cocktail bar and kitchen, serving up great food, drinks, music and mischief trading five nights a week. We’re a well-established venue with an excellent reputation and tight-knit team, where hard work is acknowledged and rewarded. Our kitchen churns out hearty, modern share plates inspired by the flavours of the Middle East in a lively setting from the heart of Garema Place, Canberra.
DUTIES
• Provide direct support to Head Chef/Senior Sous Chef.
• Preparing, serving and storing food items.
• Ensuring all food is prepared according to the standard.
• Supervising and mentoring junior cooks and kitchen employees to ensure safe
and efficient production of food.
• Contribute to menu development
• Ensuring concerns with product and service are communicated immediately to
the relevant manager on duty.
• Adhering and upholding food hygiene and workplace safety requirements
including compliance with all applicable legislation:
• General cleaning duties
• Ensuring the kitchen is clean and tidy and ready for any inspection.
• Ensuring food is correctly handled, stored correctly.
• Ensuring staff are aware of requirements and follow Food Safety
• Guidelines and Food Safety Program.
• Cohesively communicate with FOH managers.
• Opening and closing kitchen when required.
• Maintaining excellent presentation standards.
• Monitoring, ordering and managing stocks, as directed by Head Chef/Sous Chef.
• Other duties, as directed.
Job Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a chef position cooking middle eastern cuisine
• Cert IV in commercial cookery (or international equivalent)
• Team player with great leadership skills and a stellar work ethic
• Immaculate personal presentation and hygiene
