Plant Operations Tech Job Description

The Southern California refinery H2 facilities are located adjacent to each other onsite at the PBF Refinery, Torrance, consist of two (2) SMR (steam methane reformer) units and associated equipment within the growing Los Angeles area H2 pipeline franchise. Currently we have two IMMEDIATE opportunities for experienced Operations Technicians.

Plant Operations Tech Roles and Responsibilities:

As experience Operations Technician, you will be responsible for controlling and monitoring the processes to produce hydrogen, which includes operating and controlling the following:

Day to Day control and monitoring the processes to produce hydrogen, which includes operating and controlling the following:

Furnaces

Compressors

DCS monitoring systems

Rotating Equipment

Catalyst Reactors

Water Treatment Systems (Boiler and Cooling Water Systems)

Pneumatically Operated and Manual Valves

Pressure Swing Adsorption skid

Troubleshoot, respond to operating conditions, respond to customer order rates, and process optimization

Complete operator rounds, execute minor preventative maintenance, and support mechanical and instrumentation maintenance and projects

Permit work in the field and monitor contract partners

Participate in Process Safety and Personnel Safety programs and implement site policies and regulations.

This is a sensitive position.

Required Skills / Abilities:

Education and Licensing Requirements:

Applicants must have a HS diploma or equivalent.

2-years’ experience in a manufacturing or production environment with chemical processing or petrochemical preferred

An associates degree in Process Technology or Engineering is advantageous and may be considered in lieu of experience

Work Hours & Benefits:

Able to work 12hr rotating shift schedule to support the 24/7 operation of the units

On call during weekdays and weekends as needed.

Entry level pay: $47.90 (8-hour shift) PLUS overtime and bonus.
