Area:

In the Montevideo HUB, we have the Human Resources Services (HRS) area, where we accompany the employee journey of more than 23,000 BASF employees from their entry to their exit. In March 2021, we began building the Human Resources team for the Americas, which today has more than 200 people impacting the entire BASF value chain. Among other things, it is responsible for attracting and recruiting talent, developing the Employer Brand, working on people development, designing the compensation and benefits package, and operating the administrative processes related to Human Resources management.

Main Objective of the Position:

The payroll process, which serves over 15,000 employees in the US and Canada, ensures that all components affecting an employee’s gross and net pay are accurately reflected. This role will concentrate on the accounting aspects of payroll processing and play a crucial part in implementing new initiatives and projects.

Main Tasks:

General Ledger and Reconciliation: Perform General Ledger postings (weekly/bi-weekly/semi-monthly) and reconciliations to ensure accurate balances for Canada and US payrolls.

Tax and Compliance: Handle tax payments to meet deadlines, submit payroll tax results to vendors for filing, and ensure timely fund transfers.

Payroll Transactions and Reporting: Reconcile payroll deductions, conciliate payroll transactions, execute post-payroll activities, and provide ad-hoc reports for various departments.

Support and Collaboration: Act as the point of contact for payroll-related accounting inquiries, support internal and external audits, assist the IT department with system testing, and validate union dues.

Projects and Improvements: Lead accounting-related projects, implement improvements and automations, perform month-end reporting, keep accounting manuals up to date, and provide backup for payroll-related areas.

Minimum Education and Qualification Requirements

Education Graduate or advanced student in Accounting or Administration.

Working Experience 3 to 5 years of experience in accounting, payroll, or similar roles.

Languages Advanced language skills in English.

Technical Skills Advanced Microsoft Office skills; knowledge of SAP is desired.

Soft Skills Effective communication, analytical thinking with attention to detail, data analysis for problem-solving, organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
