You would be responsible for assessing complex operational processes to increase the quality of product, productivity, and efficiencies of the production lines.

nYou, as the Operational Excellence Engineer, will be responsible for developing and improving processes to maintain production flow while eliminating risk, mitigating impact, and implementing controls to avoid recurrences within the FL OPS organization.

This engineer seeks to eliminate inefficiencies and constantly questions the status quo while improving data integrity and product reliability.nnnYour Day-to-DaynnWorks collaboratively with cross-functional teams including with the manufacturing and quality teams to continually improve all processes within the Operations organization.

nnnLiaise improvement activities and investigations between the Production and Quality organizations, assessing impact, net gains, and potential roadblocks.

nnnWorks with Data Analyst to characterize data and standardize operational metrics to drive change and improvements based on data.

nnnKeeps track and maintains KPIs for the assigned projects and processes.

nnnAnalyze and lead production and manufacturing activities for validation and reliability improvement efforts.nnnEvaluates data and recommends procedural and/or process changes.nnnProvides inputs to organizations external-to-FL OPS (such as D2M, CM, Supply Chain, etc.) to drive process improvements and support transverse improvement projects.nnnApply advanced engineering principles (RCCA, DOE, VSM) to solve technical (production/quality) problems on flight and non-flight components, manufacturing processes, production flow and overall quality of the production lines.

nnnConvert VSMs into smaller user stories.nnnDetermine high-risk processes and problems during satellite integration, and proactively implement improvements to these processes to ensure operational excellence.nnnAccountable to observe processes and independently develop innovative solutions to solve problems.

Then drive the execution of improvement projects.nnnResponsible to define data-driven processes to identify root cause and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of anomalies ensuring that all aspects of an operation or process meet specified regulations.nnnSupport the production floor in continuous improvement to drive process commissioning on new and legacy production lines while maintaining uniformity between product lines.

nnnAble to train in production processes and lean manufacturing techniques to deliver measurable results.nnnThis position reports to the Operational Excellence Manager and it is located in Merritt Island, Florida.nnnYour ProfilennBS in Industrial Engineering or equivalent technical experience.nnn7+ years' experience in manufacturing environment.

nnnPrior small satellite manufacturing and test experience preferred.

nnnWorking knowledge and hands-on experience on definition of SPC and characterization of failures.

Proven experience on data mining and deep understanding of characterization of failure modes required.

nnnWorking knowledge on Lean Manufacturing and Root Cause Analysis techniques such as (A3/TPS, 8D, Fish Bone Diagram, 5 Whys, DOE, etc.)nnnFormal training or certification in Operational Excellence Systems (Lean, 5S, Six Sigma, APQP) a plus.nnnWorking knowledge and hands-on experience with production systems and troubleshooting techniques.

nnnWorking knowledge of the quality management systems AS9001.nnnStrong organizational, analytical, root cause analysis, critical thinker and problem-solving skills.nnnHighly proactive and autonomous, a decision maker.

nnnProven experience of managing production deadlines.

nnnInterpersonal skills to drive corrective action implementation.

nnnAbility to work independently and within a team.

nnnExcellent verbal and written skills to communicate effectively across the organization.

nnnStrong networking and relations building skills.

nnnSolid understanding of test flow and functional inter-relationships.

nnnStrong background in aerospace industry.

nnnSkilled in the use of Outlook, Excel, Pivot Tables, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, and TEAMS.

nnnWorking knowledge of SAP (or similar ERP system), JIRA, and MES.

nnnWork Schedule nnThis position's normal hours are during First Shift (7:00 am to 3:30 pm).nnnAbility and willingness to work flexible hours, as needed.nnnThis position is onsite.nnnPhysical DemandnnWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools or controls.
