Job Overview:
The Chemical Engineer will focus on adhesive formulation development, process engineering, and production support to create high-performance, cost-effective composite systems for building material applications. Example engineering activities will include thermoset chemistry, polymer processing, and manufacturing process development and improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and optimize adhesive formulations for performance, curing behavior, and end-use properties in adhesives, coatings, or composites.
Develop and improve chemical processes for the synthesis, mixing, and curing with an emphasis on scalability and cost efficiency.
Lead and scale-up lab formulations to pilot and full-scale production with controlled budget.
Characterize adhesive properties including viscosity, gel time, mechanical strength, impact resistance, and thermal properties using standard methods and testing equipment (e.g., ASTM, ISO).
Work closely with manufacturing engineering and marketing teams to translate customer needs into product innovations and performance optimization.
Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations. Identify opportunities for sustainable alternatives and process improvements.
Prepare technical reports, process documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Maintain detailed lab entries and process records.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or a related field.
At least 2 years of adhesive based system experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient in lab-scale synthesis, adhesive mixing, and property testing methodologies.
Knowledge of chemical process equipment (reactors, mixers, distillations, heat exchangers, etc.)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong proficiency with software tools like Excel, MATLAB, ChemCAD, and CFD Software like Ansys is highly desired.
Knowledge of fluid dynamics, production principles, and manufacturing environments.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and solutions-oriented problem solving skills.
Must be willing to work onsite, weekends and rotating shifts to support troubleshooting and implementing solutions in collaboration with chemical production and equipment maintenance.
All other knowledge, skills, and abilities that are reasonably aligned with this role, such as strong project management and organizational skills, time management skills, problem solving skills, ability to use necessary computer software, etc.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Periods of working on feet and using tools while evaluating manufacturing equipment.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer and lab equipment.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
Visual acuity to read instructions, manuals, P&IDs, operate equipment, and inspect material produced.
Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required for safety for prolonged periods.
